This is an example of the “my hands look like this” meme. In the original post, a man shared a photo of his own hand, dirty and rough from hard labor, alongside a photo of his wife’s hand, clean and soft. He explained that he worked hard to provide his wife with comfort and financial security. Iterations of the meme follow the same template of person A revealing their hard work, and how that work affects person B.
In this variation, person A’s work is as a musician, and person B consequently has no money. The joke is that musicians often struggle financially until or unless they hit it big.
